Some upset at Florida school district’s new dress code banning V-necks, open-toe shoes

Some parents are upset and at least one student got into a debate with school board members after a Florida district approved a strict new dress code Tuesday.
At Bay District Schools in Florida’s Panhandle, students will no longer be allowed to wear V-neck shirts; open-toe shoes; or tops that are altered, sleeveless, or too sheer or tight, the Panama City News Herald reported.
Also banned: jeans with rips over 5 inches above the knee, leggings or yoga pants not covered by a top that reaches fingertip length, and graphic T-shirts.
Chairman Steve Moss clapped back at critics.
“If we had parents that did a better job of parenting and holding their kids accountable for what they wear before they left the house, I don’t think we’d have the issues we have right now with our dress code,” he said.
