WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. —

The School District of Palm Beach County announced Wednesday night that the district had reached an agreement with the Palm Beach County Classroom Teachers Association on pay for teachers.

The district said it and the teachers association agreed to an average 7% pay increase and a one-time 3% bonus to instructional employees.

“Our educators work tirelessly on behalf of our students, and we were thrilled to propose this historic pay increase to the Classroom Teachers Association,” School District of Palm Beach County superintendent Mike Burke said in a statement. “This well-deserved raise reflects the largest increase in teacher pay in over 25 years. We are fortunate to have the resources this year to make it possible. The School Board always prioritizes teacher compensation in the budget and this raise demonstrates our appreciation for our dedicated teachers. We hope this also helps us recruit more high-quality teachers.”

The agreement, which the district said was a record-high increase in pay, was approved by the School Board of Palm Beach County during a special meeting Wednesday.

WPBF 25 News submitted a request for comment on the agreement Thursday to the Palm Beach County Teachers Association.
