The tech story: As schools across Florida grapple with how to use artificial intelligence, Florida Virtual School says it’s finding success.
The online school joined the University of Florida and the Concord Consortium, an education research group, to launch a pilot course called AI in Math this summer. The goal was to introduce middle and high school students to AI concepts through interactive lessons.
The first group of about 80 students completed the 10-hour course, which supplemented Algebra I, and FLVS announced that the results included “measurable gains in AI literacy, math motivation and confidence.”
The initial result has prompted the school to roll out the program to all its Flex students taking Algebra I Section 1. The deadline is Sept. 30. Completers get a certificate from UF.
