TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida’s new Education Commissioner, Dr. Henry Mack, revealed his goals ahead of the upcoming school year in a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Mack discussed the goals for his agency, saying he is committed to continuing a “student-centered approach” that the state has historically accomplished through its school choice program.

The new commissioner spoke at Florida High and highlighted the school as an example of a charter school sponsored by the state university system.

He continued that the Department of Education is placing a strong emphasis on workforce education and training.

“It’s a new year to work hard and double down on the great work that our educators are doing. The future of education in Florida is about both and it’s not an either-or,” Mack said.
