ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — The Escambia County Public Schools school board will discuss terminating Superintendent Dr. Tim Smith’s contract Tuesday evening.
The item was added to the agenda for the 5:30 p.m. meeting. The agenda item does not go into detail about why it was added.
Under his contract, if Dr. Smith is terminated without cause, he’d get 20-weeks severance pay and benefits. With cause, he’d only get earned pay and benefits.
WEAR News will be at the meeting to bring you the latest updates.
Dr. Smith was hired effective November 17, 2020, on a contract that runs through June 30, 2024.
These developments come following a quiz question that angered parents and led to an apology from the district. Dr. Smith issued a new statement regarding the matter on Monday.
