FADSS is Proud to Announce our 2021-2022 Board of Directors
FADSS | By Bill Montford, CEO | July 26, 2021
While July marks the start of a new FADSS membership year, it also marks the installation of the FADSS 2021 – 2022 Board of Directors.
FADSS 2021-2022 board was recently installed during the organization’s Board Summer Planning Meeting held July 22-23, 2021. Citrus County Schools Superintendent Sandra “Sam” Himmel will serve as the 2021-2022 president, taking over the helm from Pinellas County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Grego, who will continue to serve on the board as a past president.
I would like to thank Dr. Grego for his incredible leadership as the 2020-2021 president. Superintendents and school districts are experienced in facing new challenges and unpredictable situations — however nothing could have prepared us for the challenges associated with the COVID pandemic. I am so proud of Florida superintendents and the way they have and continue to address the obstacles. It was — and continues to be — a challenging time for all superintendents. However throughout the pandemic, Dr. Grego provided a sense of calm, wisdom and thoughtful leadership during this difficult time.
As we look to the 2021-2022 school year, we are fortunate to have Superintendent Himmel following Dr. Grego to take the helm of our association. I know she will do an excellent job leading us forward as we all work together to build on the successes and address the challenges facing public education.
Additionally, I would like to recognize the new Executive Committee:
- Bill Husfelt, President-Elect Bay County School District
- Sherrie Raulerson, Vice President Baker County School District
- Tim Forson, Secretary St. Johns County School District
- Alberto Carvalho, Treasurer Miami-Dade County School District
Additional changes to the board include the election of the following three new Area Directors:
- AREA II: Mr. Ted Roush , Suwanee County School District
- AREA III: Mr. Lex Carswell, Columbia County School District
- AREA IV: Dr. Mark Mullins, Brevard County School District
Superintendents Bobby Pearce (Wakulla County School District) and Diane Kornegay (Lake County School District) were appointed At-Large Directors, having previously served as Directors of Area II and Area IV respectively.
Three additional At-Large Director appointments include:
- Mr. Robbie Edwards, Lafayette County School District
- Dr. Diana Green, Duval County School District
- Mr. Russell Hughes, Walton County School District
The individuals that comprise FADSS’ board of directors are highly respected leaders in the education realm and I am privileged to work with such a stellar group of educators. They have dedicated their life’s work to ensuring the integrity of Florida’s public education system, and I look forward to their leadership as we continue to face the challenges and changes in public education.
