GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – The official timeline to begin the search for a permanent Alachua County Schools superintendent starts tomorrow.
The board plans to open requests for proposals for search firms.
In July, a final scoring of the search firms will be tabulated. In early August, the finalists will make a presentation to the school board with an anticipated contract awarded Aug. 4.
The board set an Aug. 19 date to finalize the timeline to replace interim superintendent Dr. Kamela Patton. Several board members are in favor of waiting until after the primaries to have a final vote.
Three school board seats are open in the Aug. 18 election. Dr. Patton’s contract runs through June 2027.
