CORAL SPRINGS — A Coral Springs police officer who worked with children was charged Monday two charges of solicitation of a minor to engage in sexual conduct, Broward jail records show.
Steven Daniello, 63, who worked as a school resource officer for Westchester Elementary School, remained in jail Tuesday morning. Details of what led to his arrest were not immediately available.
Deputy Police Chief Brad McKeone said he will make a recommendation to the city manager Tuesday for immediate termination.
Daniello earns about $60,000. He’s been an officer with the agency since 2017, coming from the Coconut Creek Police Department before then, McKeone said.
“I’m disappointed for law enforcement,” he said. “This is concerning and upsetting to us.”
Daniello’s bond was set at $60,000 and he was in the process of bonding out at lunchtime, officials said.
His defense attorney, Jeremy Kroll, declined comment.
